MADRID, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish treasury placed treasury bills valued at 5.570 billion euros (6.135 billion U.S. dollars) on the market on Tuesday at negative interest rates.
A total of 4.696 billion euros worth of 12-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of -0.066 percent compared to the 0.0 percent of the previous issue held on Feb. 16.
The placement also included 875 million euros worth of six-month treasury bills that fetched an average interest rate of -0.114 percent compared to the -0.061 percent of the previous issue.
So far, the Spanish treasury has placed 32.3 billion euros of medium and long-term debt on the market which represents 25.8 percent of the 2016 treasury goals, which is 125.3 billion euros.
