GENEVA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) reported Tuesday that unemployment levels in Switzerland reached 3.7 percent in February, down from 3.8 percent in January 2016.
With 2,227 fewer people registered as jobless last month, SECO indicated that 161,417 individuals were classified as unemployed in the period under review.
This still represents a 7.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Statistics show that youth (15 to 24 year olds) unemployment decreased by 3.3 percent, with 20,491 young adults looking for a job last month.
The number of jobseekers signed up to work in Switzerland increased by 137 people from January to February this year, reaching 222,888 people by the end of February.
SECO said the number of listed job opportunities in the country grew by 1,254 last month to reach 10,645.
