FRANKFURT, May 3(Xinhua) -- The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Tuesday went down and closed below 10,000 points.
The soaring value of the euro has become a concern of investors who were mostly gripped by a selling mood, according to local analysts. The blue-chip DAX index lost 196.5 points, or 1.94 percent and closed at 9,926.77 points.
Beiersdorf, a skin care company, soared by 0.84 percent and Merck, a science and technology firm, added 0.04 percent.
On the other hand, Commerzbank suffered the greatest losses with a decrease of 9.55 percent. Deutsche Bank dropped by 6.27 percent. The utilities company RWE slipped by 6.02 percent. Deutsche Lufthansa plunged by 5.1 percent. Infineon Technologies, a semiconductor company, went down by 4.67 percent.
Allianz was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 364.03 million euros (418.07 million U.S. dollars).
