BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Revenue of China's electronic information manufacturing industry rose 5 percent year on year in the first eight months of 2019.
The sector registered a 2.7-percent slump in profits as operating costs gained 4.9 percent year on year during the period, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Fixed asset investment of the industry grew 11.1 percent year on year, 0.6 percentage points higher than the period of Jan.-July, MIIT data showed.
In breakdown, profits of communications equipment manufacturers climbed 10.2 percent and that of computer manufacturers went up 7.7 percent year on year in the first eight months of this year, the ministry said.
MIIT data also showed China's laptops output dipped 1.3 percent year on year while that of tablet computers surged 44.2 percent.
